Cristalle Smith is an award winning poet and writer. She is published in CV2, Arc Poetry, Room Magazine, The Maynard, and elsewhere. Cristalle is the winner of subTerrain Magazine’s Lush Triumphant Literary Award in creative nonfiction. Her book, Invisible Lives (Brave & Brilliant Series University of Calgary Press), won the Alberta Literary Awards for the Stephan G. Stephansson Prize for Book of Poetry 2025 and was longlisted for the Pat Lowther Memorial Award for the League of Canadian Poets. Her work has been longlisted for Room Magazine’s Poem of the Year Contest and has been a finalist for CV2’s 2-Day Poem Contest for the People’s Choice Award. She is a former editorial board member of The Fiddlehead. Frog Hollow Press published her chapbook length collection, Sea Glass for the Chronically Alone, in the dis/Ability Series.


Cristalle is the recipient of two SSHRC awards: the Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarship (Master’s 2017) and the Canada Graduate Scholarship (Doctoral 2022). She has an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia Okanagan and a PhD in English Literature Creative Writing from the University of Calgary.
